Customer Service
Recruiters can spend hours and hours on the phone or sourcing qualified candidates on the Internet (that's called Internet Recruiting). Superstar recruiters have a tremendous mastery of many people-related skills, including:
- Insight - Recruiters need to match client demands and candidate possibilities. This means they have to intrinsically understand what their clients' goals are...and which candidate would benefit from the career change.
- Sales - Recruiters need to feel comfortable on the phone as they will have to cold call, warm call, and everything in between call.
- Industry Knowledge - Because candidates won't entrust their career future with idjuts, smart recruiters can "talk the talk" with their candidates. Therefore, savvy recruiters can discuss industry trends/jargon/etc. with the best of them.
- Time Management - Unless recruiters are lucky enough to have a sourcer help out, they will have to juggle finding candidates, calling candidates, following up on job interviews, securing new clients ... and that's only in the morning. Thus, topnotch recruiters are excellent at time management.
When do recruiters work, I hear you ask?
Quite often, recruiters have to contact candidates during off hours. So they might call them at home, after dinner, in the wee hours of the morning (if the candidate is a night owl) etc.
Where do recruiters work?
It all depends, actually. Some recruiters are Home based recruiters - they work out of their home office, often in pajamas, t-shirts or other comfortable attire. In cases like this, a gift that is useful in a home office would be most appropriate.
Other recruiters work out of a corporate office. An appropriate gift here would be a stylish pen (something has to be used to sign contacts), desktop accessories, ergonomic stress relievers and the like.
The above gives you a brief idea about what recruiters *do*. But remember, gifts for recruiters should really...come from the heart. You can buy something that helps your recruiter friends success at their business, something that makes them smile, something that shows you care!
Let me now take some time and explain to you the tools that recruiters use.
And if you were interested in that desktop accessory idea above, you can often discover great goodies at eBay like so:
